Vacation set in a few kilometers short of the finish line for The Wolfe Island Classic, a road race I’d entered on a whim.

I spent most of July at The National Critics Institute (more on that this Friday), followed by a brief family reunion in northern Kentucky (more on that this Wednesday.) But the first thing I did after pulling down the storefront gate on my little operation was to drive up to Canada, where I’d rented a slow-moving houseboat.
