I’ll get right to the point. The Food Section has been nominated for The Webby Awards, and we need your vote to take home the prestigious People’s Voice prize in the independent newsletter category.

What’s a Webby? The program was established back in 1996 to recognize online excellence; The New York Times has referred to it as “the Internet’s highest honor.” Companies vying for votes this year include ABC, Amazon, MTV, the NHL, and Uber Eats.

Fortunately, we’re not up against any of those behemoths, but we have to chop down The Onion to win the popular vote. For context, the satirical site has more than 24 million followers across its social channels. Let’s just say we don’t have quite that many.

But here’s the cool part: As of this writing, we’re in third place. We’ve garnered 17 percent of the vote, and we’re trending upward—but we’re counting on you to take us all the way to the top!

Here’s the procedure for casting your ballot:

  1. Clicking this link will take you directly to our category.
  2. VOTE FOR TFS (please.)
  3. Sign in or create an account
  4. You’ll then receive a verification email from Webby; make sure to open it, confirm your email address, and vouch for your vote.
  5. Optional: Spread the word via social media! Every vote counts.

Thank you so much for your support. I’m off to shake hands and kiss babies.

Have a great weekend!
