Stop! Don’t spend your time reading this post! Instead, please devote your valuable minutes to taking this survey that could help save The Food Section (and maybe win you a prize.)
Still here? OK. So, as regular readers of The Food Section know, our top goal for 2025 is keeping this publication in business. That calls for reliable revenue sources beyond subscriptions: Just since January, we’ve experimented with in-person events, online events, banner ads, auctions, contests, new merch, and tax-deductible giving.
But the real money is in display ads and sponsorships, which is why we need to start courting the companies financially positioned to buy them.
Before we make those sales calls, though, we need a little more information. We want to be certain that any advertising enhances your TFS experience, rather than detracts from it. And we want to give potential advertisers a better sense of the audience they can reach through The Food Section.
What’s in it for you? First, if TFS can drum up advertising dollars, we won’t have to pester you for payment quite so frequently. Second, if you provide your email address, you’ll be automatically entered in a drawing for one of the first jars of Red Clay Hot Sauce’s new small-batch Southern Chili Crisp: Serrano + Ramp. Be the first on your block to garnish your grits with Appalachian onions!

Third, and most importantly, we hope you see the value in keeping TFS around. We have so many more stories to tell.
Thank you for your support.
