Buckhead Landing’s new Publix is huge: More than 56,000 square feet, which puts it just below the size of an NFL football field. Even though the location’s been open for five months, on a recent Tuesday morning, the aisles were teeming with store managers and other Publix corporate folks sprucing up tables and huddling around the store.

The grocery chain knows it’s important to strike the right chord because of the legacy left by a competitor’s store that once stood in this place.
