Rolling in the deep grits

In 2003, one year after Georgia designated grits as the state’s official prepared food, Georgia governor Sonny Perdue declared that Warwick, Georgia was “dead in the center of the universe, gritswise.” In his proclamation of National Grits Festival Day, he predicted, “The event will undoubtedly be attended by persons of high and low estate from around the world, all mingling to pay homage to The Grit.”

Try telling that to South Carolina.
