Racist attack reported at Gullah-owned restaurant

Editor’s note: Eleven days after this story was published, Geneva Clines turned herself in to the Beaufort County Detention Center, having been charged with making up the story that her restaurant was vandalized by a group of white men. An update on the case is here.

Geneva Clines, owner of Geneva’s Joint on Daufuskie Island, last Tuesday morning told her pastor that she wouldn’t be able to open for lunch that day as scheduled.
