The Root Cellar menu says, “We make it from scratch like our mamas taught us, but we kick it up a notch.”
My mama’s food was not like this. She was from the Midwest; and while The Root Cellar doesn’t make a fetish about its regional allegiance, much of what it serves has a distinct Southern accent. Sandwiches are garnished with pickled okra, not an ordinary pickle.
