Sometimes, the best stories are staring you in the face.
TFS correspondents are a busy bunch, so there’s no telling what will be in their Zoom backgrounds when we meet. The exception is spirits columnist Susannah Skiver Barton, who almost always dials in from her home office, flanked by a stupendous collection of liquor acquired over many years in drinks journalism.
While there aren’t any reliable statistics on the number of bottles in the average American liquor cabinet, Susannah’s inventory has it beat. So, when we were chatting about what topic she should tackle in her Zoom session for subscribers—part of our monthly series sponsored by Weigl Communications—it made sense for her to raid her tantalizing backdrop for obscure and underrated favorites.
