For all the talk about lonely Americans, they sure haven’t quit with the canapes. Today’s social media feeds are cavalcades of teensy-weensy stuffed potatoes, caviar-capped deviled eggs, cheese-smeared blini, and sculpted charcuterie.

Imagine, though, presenting your guests with pristine oysters on the half shell, each one burnished with a tasteful amount of sauteed spinach and dotted with nubs of thick-cut bacon.
