Country star’s grandparents taught him culinary lesson

Ty Herndon never had a choice: He was going to learn to cook. Years before he became a country music star, his grandma Myrtle Todd taught him to feed himself in her Alabama kitchen.

“She was an incredible Southern cook,” said the country music star. whose hits like “What Mattered Most” and “It Must Be Love” helped him dominate 90s radio. “She made everything from chicken and dumplings to chicken-fried steak to mushroom-baked pork chops, and all of it was full of butter. She taught all seven of her grandsons. She said, ‘This will make you a better husband.’”
