This week, we’re stepping back into a culinary stream we’ve visited once before, when we waded through House of Pizza’s history: The remarkably rich legacy of longstanding Charlotte restaurants founded by Greek families.

Like HOP, Open Kitchen and the family that owns it have endured changing tastes and economic fortunes. But it hung on, and now it thrives in a freshly revitalized west side neighborhood in the shadow of Bank of America Stadium. (House of Pizza’s over on the east side.) Kathleen has the scoop—or, more appropriately, the pizza cutter–G.L.
