The first time I drove to the town of Lodge, South Carolina, looking for a place called Rizer’s Pork and Produce, my phone’s GPS was so perplexed by the remote location that it went mum and stopped giving directions.
Fortunately, a human rocking on her front porch told me exactly how to get to Rizer’s. I enjoyed going there immensely. After lunch, when I got back in the car, the hapless phone said there was no route that would get me home.
