In 1979 Hank Williams Jr. rocked the world of country music with a song called “Whiskey Bent and Hell Bound.” In a style known as outlaw country, it was rowdy and rebellious. That pretty well describes Whiskey Bent Bar & Grill.

Even on a weekday afternoon, sound-system music in the shopping-center pub reverberates emphatically enough to necessitate extra-loud conversations. From the time doors open, at 11 a.m., until closing the next morning at 2, there is always something noisy going on, whether live music or karaoke or the unrestrained enthusiasm of trivia contest winners. Through it all, the beat is set by the clack of billiard balls on felt-covered slate and the thunk of darts hitting dartboards. On Thursday biker nights, the parking lot rings with roars and rumbles of gathering two-wheelers.
