Jack Nales, a North Carolina Department of Agriculture marketing specialist, can’t recall how many years he’s worn a cow costume to the state’s Legislative Milk Chugging Contest. But the 2025 dairy promotion event may prove hard to forget.
“Last year, they lost because they upchucked milk,” Nales said of the four-man team fielded by the N.C. House of Representatives, a perennial longshot in the annual competition. “It wasn’t projectile or anything, but even a dribble will disqualify you.”
