It happened at about 3:45 a.m. on Wednesday, June 24. The dim surveillance video from the interior of the Birdsong Brewing taproom shows two people. One rides a bicycle past the double glass-paned doors that lead from the taproom to the patio, which opens to the street. That was presumably the person who broke through the glass, by means unknown. Another made his way behind the bar. He collected things and placed them on what appears to be a dolly. Then they left.

After sunrise, the brewery’s delivery coordinator discovered the broken glass and missing items: a dehumidifier worth about $100 and an estimated $1,200 worth of new hats and t-shirts—including more than 20 shirts that the staff had just tie-dyed by hand the week before in honor of Pride Month. It cost about $750 to replace the glass. By late that afternoon, all was as before. (A sparrow got into the taproom in the meantime, which struck the staff as a little too obvious, as symbolism goes.)
